The Independent Canadian GoJu Federation was founded by Sensei Marlene & Jerry Kasper in 1994 after Sensei Peter Urban (head of GoJu Ryu USA) told them he wanted them to form a federation for all and any Canadian clubs.

When Sensei Marlene Kasper retired, she gave the rights to the ICGF to Sensei Denis Robitaille on the condition that he keep the federation alive.
